Art learning takes place in the studio, the world, and the community. I believe in arts education as a means of interacting with the world. Students step into the art room and make sense of the contemporary moment in time; the socio political climate, popular culture, contemporary art, and visual culture all become art materials. In the 21st century arts literacy is essential for everyone; as a teacher, I am committed to arts as a means to engage with the word for all students. I am committed to giving students languages and methods to communicate their inner worlds and empower them to occupy a space with their work.
